NOTE: This only applies to family tree websites that have the Privacy Setting at "Membership Model". Does not apply to Website Privacy setting of "Access Code".

Invited Family members (unless they are invited as Guests) will be able to Add/Edit names and Upload Photos of themselves and their relatives.

In the "Tree" view they will be able to click a plus (+) symbol on the top left of their relatives' boxes to add/edit names and upload photos.

In the "Family" view they and click the box with a down arrow [v] to do the above.

Any changes they make will be logged in your website's activity log.

If you do not wish that a family member be able to make such changes, please sign-in as Administrator, pick "Invitation" under Tools in the menu. Then change the role of that person from "Member" to "Guest" and click the Save button.

VERY DANGEROUS AND SILLY

A very dangerous thing to do.

A Members Tree can be changed completely, without their Knowledge, which can ruing years of work.

Only let others change the Members Tree, by asking permission, so as Members know what has happened.

You have SOLD their site to them so they should decide when and who van update site

Regards

Les

This has been there for a while till recently. A glitch introduced a few months back prevented members for making changes.

Still dangerous and Silly.

I do not give anyone access, they can request me to alter, I then know my site is safe and correct.

I did not know what you have done previously, as I would not use it.

I still suggest that you REMOVE this facility. Maybe other Members are not aware of the Liberty you are taking with their Sites

Regards

Les

TP Support, you use the words - "Add/Edit names and Upload Photos of themselves and "THEIR RELATIVES."

I thought they could only edit and add photo's for themselves and IMMEDIATE family. ANY relative would be taking it too far. What do you mean by "THEIR RELATIVES". Please clarify.

We consider any descendant (and spouse) of a person's grandparent as a "Relative".

We make a list of "relatives" starting with the invited person's grandparents, their children and grandchildren till there are no more descendants. To this list we add their spouses. This becomes the list of "relatives".

That I don't like. It should be the invited person can only edit his own details and that of his descendants and his wife, Also his parents. Thats my opinion. I will make some changes to my invited members categories. Like Les says, I doubt if many members know what can be edited by others.

Still waiting for your comments on your own wording as follows -

"Member Like Guests, Members can view Private Data on your site. They can add or update only their direct relatives (parents, children, siblings and spouse)"

Tribalpages - Are you changing this ?.

This is your own wording as in the "send invitations" section. You had better change this or strictly follow what it says. What it says is the best option I maintain.

"What are Roles?

Roles define what previlages a member has.

Guest Guests can view Private Data on your site. However they cannot make any changes to your site.

Member Like Guests, Members can view Private Data on your site. They can add or update only their direct relatives (parents, children, siblings and spouse)."

This should be invited person husband/ wife and THEIR descendents only.My tree is mine and I don't want anyone changing anything above the invited person.
